Cheap Flights to Armenia from Germany, France and the USA: A Practical Guide

Ruined columns and arches of Zvartnots Cathedral near Yerevan, Armenia

If you are looking for cheap flights to Armenia from Germany, France or the USA, the short version is this: travellers from much of Europe can often fly nonstop to Yerevan on low-cost airlines, while travellers from the USA always change planes and should plan for a long day of travel. The flight is usually the biggest single cost of the trip, because once you land, Armenia is an inexpensive country. We run small-group tours from Yerevan, so this guide mixes what we see every week with what we could verify in October 2026. Routes and fares change by season, so treat the airline names below as patterns, not a timetable. We do not sell flights.

Which airlines fly nonstop to Yerevan from Germany, France and Italy?

Zvartnots airport (EVN), about 12 km west of the centre, is the main gateway. The route list below comes from a flight-route database last updated in early 2026, plus airline pages. Several routes were still marked as announced or seasonal, so check the airline before you build a plan around one.

  • Germany: Lufthansa flies Frankfurt to Yerevan year-round, and Condor adds seasonal flights. Eurowings has listed seasonal flights from Cologne-Bonn and Berlin. Wizz Air has listed Dortmund, Hamburg and Memmingen.
  • France: Air France flies Paris Charles de Gaulle year-round. Wizz Air uses Paris Beauvais. Transavia listed Marseille year-round, Lyon seasonally and Paris Orly from October 2026. FlyOne Armenia has also served Paris.
  • Italy and elsewhere: Wizz Air and FlyOne Armenia serve Rome, Milan, Venice, Naples and Bari in different seasons. Austrian (seasonal) and LOT connect Vienna and Warsaw, and Brussels Airlines flies from Brussels.

Low-cost one-way fares we saw advertised on these routes started around 25 to 90 euros, before bags and seat fees. Those are teaser prices, not what you will always pay. Our flights article has a longer overview of routes and arriving at Zvartnots.

How do you fly from the USA to Armenia?

As far as we could verify, there are no nonstop flights between the USA or Canada and Yerevan in 2026. Fare sites show a one-stop trip as the norm. From New York, the most common connection is Istanbul, followed by Paris, Frankfurt and Warsaw. Total journey time on listed offers ranged from about 15 to 28 hours.

Prices swing a lot. One aggregator showed a median return fare of around 685 US dollars for November and around 1,250 for June and July, which is a strong reason to avoid summer if the budget is tight. Treat those as examples from one site, not a promise.

Two practical tips for American readers. First, a ticket on one airline all the way through protects you if the first leg is late. Second, a stop in Europe can be turned into a short city break at no extra airfare on some itineraries, so ask the airline or search tool about stopovers.

When is the cheapest time to fly to Yerevan?

Airline and aggregator pages we read agree on the pattern: January is the low season and July the high season. Late April to May and late September to November are the shoulder months, with milder weather and fewer crowds on the road. The last week of December is also expensive.

For booking, there is no magic date. Start comparing two to three months ahead, watch two or three fares for a week, and book when a price looks fair rather than waiting for a miracle. On low-cost carriers the fare is only the start: hand luggage and checked bags are usually extra.

Which tricks really lower the price?

  • Look at several departure airports. A short train or bus ride to a low-cost base can save more than any app.
  • Try open-jaw tickets. Fly into Yerevan and home from Tbilisi, or the other way round. It saves you doubling back and can open up other fare combinations.
  • Compare hubs. Istanbul, Doha, Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi all have year-round links to Yerevan. They can be cheap, but a long layover can turn a five-hour trip into a 15-hour one.
  • Be careful with separate tickets. If the first flight is late, the second airline owes you nothing. Yerevan has few daily services, so a missed connection can cost a day.
  • Expect night arrivals. Many flights land in the small hours, so budget for a night in a guesthouse or an arranged pickup.

Is it cheaper to come overland via Georgia?

Sometimes, and it can also be a good trip. The Georgian border is open. Minivans from Tbilisi to Yerevan take about 6 hours including the border. Reports for 2026 put fares at roughly 20 to 25 US dollars or 40 to 50 Georgian lari, depending on the operator. Private transfers can stop at monasteries in the north on the way.

There is also an overnight train. For the winter timetable from 2 October 2026 to mid-June 2027 it was reported to run every second night and take about 10.5 hours. Published fares ranged from about 115 to 218 lari per person depending on the class. Sales open about 40 days ahead. Because schedules change, confirm on the railway websites. The land borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan are not open to ordinary tourist crossings as far as we know in 2026.

How do you get from the airport to the city without overpaying?

Use a ride-hailing app (GG or Yandex) or the official taxi desk in arrivals. Sources we read quote roughly 2,000 to 4,000 AMD for apps and 4,000 to 6,000 AMD at the desk, for a ride of 20 to 35 minutes. Drivers who approach you inside the arrivals hall tend to quote more. An airport express bus runs to the centre for around 300 AMD, though sources disagree on the route number and fare, so check the sign. For a very early landing, a pickup arranged in advance means no haggling at 4 a.m. Our SIM, eSIM and ATM guide covers what to sort out right after landing.

How do you keep costs low once you are in Armenia?

  • Use shared transport. City buses and the metro cost a few hundred dram at most. Marshrutkas and shared taxis are cheap for towns, but awkward for remote monasteries.
  • Share the vehicle. A private car costs the same for one passenger or four. A small-group tour spreads that cost, and it solves the logistics for places buses reach badly.
  • Choose guesthouses and homestays. Rooms with breakfast in guesthouses were roughly 25 to 50 euros for a double in our recent estimates, with village homestays lower.
  • Travel in the shoulder season. Hotels and flights both ease off.
  • Eat where locals eat. A canteen lunch is a fraction of a Yerevan restaurant dinner.

If you are unsure how far to go on your own, our guided tour or DIY decision guide sets out the trade-offs honestly.

What does a week in Armenia cost, flights excluded?

These are our rough per-person ranges for seven days, as of 2026. They are estimates, not quotes, and the euro-dram rate moves.

  • Backpacker (hostel or cheap guesthouse, local food, public transport): about 220 to 300 euros.
  • Mid-range (private rooms, a mix of restaurants and canteens, a few tours): about 450 to 650 euros.
  • Comfortable (good hotels, restaurants, private drivers): about 850 to 1,300 euros.

Solo travellers should add something for single rooms. Our travel costs and budget article explains where the numbers come from, and the one-week itinerary shows what such a week can contain.

Do you need a visa?

Citizens of the USA, the UK and EU member states, including Germany, France and Italy, can enter Armenia without a visa for up to 180 days a year, according to the official visa page and secondary sources we checked. Always confirm your own passport on the foreign ministry website before booking, since lists can change. Our entry requirements guide goes through it, and our step-by-step planning guide shows where this fits.

Who should skip the cheapest option, and how can we help?

Skip the cheapest ticket if you have a tight connection, a fixed tour start, or if a 3 a.m. landing would ruin your first day. Skip the overland route if you are short of time. If you are only staying three or four days, a slightly dearer daytime flight is often the better value.

What we do and do not do: we do not sell flights, visas or accommodation. We run small-group tours (Garni and Geghard, Lake Sevan and Dilijan, Khor Virap, Areni and Noravank, Tatev, Yerevan on foot, and a 7-day classic route), plus private and tailor-made trips. On request we can arrange an airport pickup, and guides who speak English, German, Italian, French or Russian. Prices are quoted individually through the contact page.

See which of our small-group departures fit your dates on the tours page, or look at the 7-day classic tour. If you are building something of your own, write to us via the contact page and we will send a quote.
